I co-founded an NGO called Projeto Bagagem which I am the current president with the ideal of contributing with the development of traditional communities in Brazil through community-based tourism.
The place for which Cecilia feels a fondness or connection:
The african descendent community of Remanso, in the city of Lençois Bahia, Brazil. I go there every week or 15 days and have a great respect and admiration for them and for the people of Grãos de Luz e Griô, who opened the doors of the amazing oral culture and ancestral universe for me. Thank you for showing me this other way to look at our world.
The change Cecilia passionately wants to happen:
I would die to see Brazil with good quality education for every child and teenager, to see traditional communities with their land property secure and not threatened, with their culture recognized in the national and local policies, inside the schools, and another economic relationship taking place where they are in control of what they want, with money as a support for other ways of development and not the main and exclusively final goal of life.
