About John Govea

This is how John is a Changemaker:
John Govea, J.D., M.P.A., joined the Foundation in April 2007 as a senior program officer with the Health Group. He is a member of the Childhood Obesity and the Vulnerable Populations Teams. On the Childhood Obesity Team his work focuses on advocacy strategies to reverse the current trends of obesity by America’s youth. On the Vulnerable Populations Team he works to address the needs of young men and boys of color. Prior to joining the Foundation John served as Manager of Youth Service for CaliforniaVolunteers-Office of the Governor in California where he worked to engage youth in community service. He has prior experience in philanthropy with the Community Foundation for Monterey County and the David and Lucile Packard Foundation. He also had a fifteen year career as an attorney representing farmworkers suffering work injuries in Salinas, California. John received a J.D. from the University of California School of Law, Boalt Hall, an M.P.A. from the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University, and an A.B. from Stanford University.
