Additional Prizes Announced for the “Sport for a Better World” Competition

New award opportunities announced in the "Sport for a Better World" competition, including awards focused on soccer, basketball, women in sport, and the best innovation from a Nike employee.

We are proud to announce the following new prizes, in addition to the overall competition prize.*

Soccer/Football Award - $5,000 US
The top innovation using soccer for social change will receive $5,000 US and technical assistance from Nike. **Winners announced**

Basketball Award - Technical Assistance
The top innovation using basketball for social change will receive marketing and other technical assistance. Details will be determined in conjunction with the winner. **Winners announced**

Women in Sport Award - $5,000 US
The top innovation supporting women and girls in sport will receive $5,000 US. Winner announcement coming soon!

Nike Employee Award - $5,000 US
The top innovation from a Nike employee will receive $5,000 US to implement their own project or to support another. Winner announcement, tbd (please check back regularly for an update)

Dance for a Better World Award - £5,000
The top innovation from the United Kingdom using dance for social change will receive £5,000. Winner announcement, tbd (please check back regularly for an update)



University Challenge Awards
Participating University communities will be awarded a number of prizes, including categories for students, faculty, and university. **Winners announced**


Sport for a Better World Competition 2008 Special Award
Ashoka's Changemakers is thrilled to announce* the "Sport for a Better World Competition 2008 Special Award" made possible by Kevin Carroll, founder of Katalyst for Social Change , a division of Kevin Carroll Katalyst, LLC. Kevin Carroll is a Changemakers Featured Commentator and sports for social change leader. The "Sport for a Better World 2008 Special Award" recognizes the SBW entrant that reflects a dedication to advancing sports and play as a vehicle for social change.


*Entries are judged based on the Changemakers criteria: innovation, social impact, and sustainability. Entries are eligible to win both the categorical prizes as well as the overall competition.
