by imayi moses on July 15, 2008 - 10:29

We need to take urgent action to end global slavery,as the effect is becoming very significant,reading through a local Nigeria Newspaper (the punch of tuesday,july15,page 13)made today a sad day for me,pls find some of the details from the story below;

THE Executive Secretary,National Agency for the prohibition in trafficking in person has said that not less than 15 commercial sex workers had tested positive to HIV in Lagos in the last one week,she said this during a courtesy visit to the state Governor,Mr.Babatunde Fashola,in lagos on friday.
She described the rescue as a very pathetic story.
Reacting,Fashola called on men and women of good conscience to rise up and prevent the entrenchment of another slave trade in the form of human trafficking,200 years after the heinous act was abolished worldwide.
He implored all parents to be vigilant about whom they entrust their children to and added that now is the time for government to provide education that is free and accessible to all people toward stemming the tide,as it has become the stock in trade of those who recruit unsuspecting victims into the trade with promises of access to better education.

This is just one example of many cases,global slavery is REAL and we need to stand up and take ACTION,NOW
